Meet our Team

RVN Team

Lisa

Hi, my name is Lisa, I am a qualified veterinary nurse of nearly 3 years. I have worked in veterinary for 6 years but I completed my training with Westways. My favourite part of my job is monitoring anaesthetics and being in theatre watching surgeries. I love being able to sit and comfort them in recovery. Because we have such a big team that works so well together we are able to give that extra bit of TLC to all the patients.

I have recently completed my oral care nursing certificate. And I have had full support from my senior team to use this knowledge I’ve gained. Westways is very much a family team and everyone is supportive of each other no matter what skills we all have.

CPD and extra qualifications are always actively encouraged and the senior team are always happy to help you find suitable courses to help develop confidence and skill. I feel everyday at Westways is different and interesting and I’m constantly learning.

Brittany

My name is Brittany I’ve worked for Westway Vets for 5 and a half years now and have had the pleasure of working with some amazing people. Ever since I was young I’ve always wanted to work with animals, providing care and support has always been a passion of mine.

My first role within Westway Vets was working as a receptionist, I was only 18 years old when I got the job but as scared as I was I knew I had help and support from my team around me.

I was provided with an opportunity to become an auxiliary nurse then further my career and become a student veterinary nurse. There were many ups and downs during my journey as a Student Veterinary Nurse to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse. I know I would never have been able to do it without my amazing team I work with at our Eden Hill branch. Our Eden Hill team are more than friends we have became family who I will forever be grateful for having.

Gillian

Hi my name is Gillian and I am a Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse, I have been working as a nurse for 6 years with Westways, we have an amazing support system here, our team looks after each other and we know that there is support from management if we need it. I couldn’t imagine working as a nurse anywhere else. Everyday is different in my profession, there are high’s and low’s but I know that what I do is making a difference. My main interests within the role are nurse consultations, Cat Friendly Clinic, meeting different clients and patients and in my senior position, ensuring the team are happy and supported.

Abi

Hi I’m Abigail and I’m an RVN at Edenhill. I’ve worked for Westway for a year and a half now after qualifying at another practice.  The team at Westways were so welcoming when I started and gave me the additional training I needed to become more confident. Everybody has a passion for patient care and we are always looking at ways to improve our protocols to keep up to date with developments in research. There is always encouragement to progress in your career as a veterinary nurse and complete CPD and certificates in any area you are interested in.

Westways have been very flexible with my working hours, I work a 40 hour week over 4 days.

The team are always open for new ideas too to develop what we offer, such as senior pet clinics for nurse consults. I feel like I am always encouraged to develop as a nurse and pursue my interests. My favourite aspects of nursing are nurse consults, monitoring anaesthesia and being a clinical coach.

Sophie

My name is Sophie. I am currently a student aiming to complete my final exam to become a registered veterinary nurse. Although I have only been working at Westway Vets for a few months, the support I have received so far is unmatched. Being around such brilliant and encouraging nurses has really helped me to gain more knowledge and confidence within myself as a nurse. The team is always inspired to aim higher and fulfil any ambitions we have within our fields. Every member of the team helps one another in any situation we may be faced with. On top of this, it is so important to work with a team that you can trust, respect, but most of all have a laugh with! I have surely found this in our team at Westways.

Reception

Jill

I joined Westways as a receptionist almost 2 years ago, which was a complete career change for me. As a more mature lady 😉, this was a big challenge for me to embark on a new career, in a completely different working environment. I have a huge passion for animals and customer care and this role has given me the opportunity to excel in both.  Every day is different as my role is very varied.  At times it can be very challenging and emotional but also very rewarding,  getting to enjoy some puppy cuddles along the way.

Following a period as a floating receptionist, I’m now based at the Eden Hill hospital branch and the team and management have been hugely supportive.  Everyone has helped me adapt to my new surroundings in a very fast paced and challenging environment.  The team ethics are amazing as everyone has a mutual respect for each other and always on hand with support and extensive knowledge. As a receptionist, I’ve been encouraged to personally develop my skills and knowledge.  I’m currently working towards accredited BVRA status which has been fully funded by the company.  I also benefit greatly from our Health shield scheme. I’m proud to work alongside such amazing and dedicated colleagues who take pride in their work.  I can honestly say I look forward to coming to work EVERY day.

Hannah

Hi, my name is Hannah and I’m one of the Veterinary surgeons working for Westway. The team at Westway have truly supported me in my career; from school, throughout university and now as a qualified vet. From day one everyone has been so welcoming, I truly couldn’t ask for a better work family! As a recent graduate I have had so much support from fellow vets, nurses and senior colleagues alike, which is a huge reason why Westway was my first choice of practice to begin my career. The team have helped me develop my confidence massively over the last 2 years, and I can’t wait to see what the next few years bring!
